Meet the Staff
EYFS Leader and Reception Teacher Mrs Jo Murray |
---|
I’m so excited to be the Early Years Leader at Buntingford First School. We do so many FUN things and of course lots of wonderful learning! Starting school is a great step forward in your child’s life and we will do all that we can to help you and your child feel welcome. Early years’ education builds on a child’s previous knowledge and understanding and our aim is to work with you to support your child’s learning and development. Every child is different and therefore will have different needs. Our early years’ staff are trained to identify where children are and know how to help them progress to their next level. We know your child will thrive in our Early Years and we can’t wait to start working with you, your child and your family in the near future. |
SENDCO Mrs Katherine England |
I was born and brought up in Guernsey, until I attended Warwick University. I took my gap year straight afterwards, where voluntary work as a teacher in Thailand ignited my love of supporting children to learn and I returned to England to complete my teacher training. Since qualifying in September, 2006, I have taught many different year groups but discovered that I had a particular passion for Special Educational Needs and ensuring those children have access to education that is motivating and engaging. I am married with two boys, enjoy reading, running with my dog and going back to Guernsey to spend time by the sea. I have had a strong interest in counselling since university and am a qualified therapist to both adults and children. |
Nursery Teacher Miss Sarah Hunter |
Hello everyone! My name is Miss Hunter and I am the Nursery teacher for Buntingford First School. I have been teaching for over eleven years and I still feel so fortunate to do what I love each day. I can’t wait to meet you all. Having taught most year groups at primary level, I believe that children need to feel safe and loved in order to learn to the best of their ability. This is especially true for our youngest learners. The Early Years are a magical time full of awe and wonder so I aim to develop skills through a play based, child-led approach. I can’t wait to see where the children’s imaginations take us! This will be a year of exciting adventures for us all I’m sure! |
Reception Teacher Miss Gracie Parkinson - joining us September 2024! |
Hello, my name is Miss Parkinson, I can’t wait to join Buntingford First School in September. I’m really looking forward to meeting everybody and embarking on a new exciting chapter together.
Having qualified this year this will be my first class! I feel extremely fortunate to be starting my journey as a teacher with children who are starting their journey into education. We will grow, laugh and cry (happy tears) together.
I’m the eldest of four children and in my free time I enjoy spending time with family, going to the gym and doing Pilates. I believe it is important to be active and love to incorporate physical activities into everyday learning. I like spending time outdoors and feel it is important for us to explore the world around us. I understand the importance of getting to know the children as a collective but also as individuals and can’t wait to meet you all! |
KS1 Teacher Mrs Zoe Templeton |
I’m a qualified teacher with 14 years experience working across all key stages within primary schools in London and Hertfordshire. |
KS2 Teacher Mrs Katie Davies |
I am Mrs Davies and I am incredibly excited to part of the team at Buntingford First School. I have lived in Buntingford for over five years now with my husband and we thoroughly love the area and people within it. I feel Buntingford has a wonderful community spirit and that is why we moved here. We particularly enjoy walking through the local fields during the summer months and feel very lucky to be surrounded by such beauty. Last year, we welcomed our precious baby boy into the world. He is my everything and I spend most of my free time taking him out on exciting trips to interesting places. As well as being a mum, my favourite things include my cats, listening to music, singing, dancing, roast dinners and going on sunny holidays! I have worked in education for thirteen years now and have gained experience working in many different schools, learning from lots of talented individuals. I studied psychology at university which has been extremely helpful in understanding children’s development and how they learn effectively. I love teaching and thrive on making sure every day is fun, filled with laughter and memories that children will treasure and talk about in the future. My favourite subject is English, and I love to spend time reading books with my class. I cannot wait to share some of my favourite books with you! |
